My 1954 Buick Model(s): Special
|
the last 1% is the hardest part, and time always runs out. There is also a difference between a gold and a senior. Judging is a pain, but a neccessary part of the hobby. Pick up my flatbed today. The crappy used ones go for $1500, you can buy a new one for 2500- and not have screwwed up wiring and worn ourt tires.
For yourself, just because you drive it doesn't mean you can't get a senior. Lots of seniors are driven to the event. I was going to do the driver class last year because I thought powder coat would not be acceptable. You are light years ahead of where I was, got a silver. But I had some huge deviations, and I still likey would have missed the senior (hindsight is 20/20). On the up side, my car is a judged #1, but being close just created another year of agrivation wanting to complete the process. Then things happen, you scratch some stainless- do I take it off and re-polish? Got real lucy, not a paint chip anywhere or paint scratch and I drive it to Denver area shows. Since the car is still "fresh", I'll trailer it, but don't think I wouldn't drive it. I think they even allow for damage in transit in the judging.
Once I do get a senior-(be it this year or someday) I can scratch that off the bucket list and you will see me in the driver class. Too much aggrivation, but I do think Bob should go for a senior on his down the road. He has the patience!
